Dave D’Amore
Father, husband, drummer, educator and multi-instrumentalist – Dedicated to helping others find their rhythm
1995
At 8 years old, I was tapping on any audible surface I could find, sparking an early fascination with rhythm and sound.
I got my first drum kit at age 11, a moment that sparked a passion and set me on a lifelong journey behind the kit.
2001-2013
From age 14 and through my teens and twenties, I performed in bands across Melbourne’s vibrant live rock and metal scene.
From performing at iconic venues to sharing the stage with Australia's top heavy acts, these experiences honed my craft as a versatile drummer.
2014
I relocated to tropical Cairns, Queensland, inspired by its vibrant community and stunning surroundings.
This move marked a fresh chapter, leading to new collaborations, projects, and teaching opportunities to grow both personally and professionally.
2019–PRESENT
I founded my drum school to help drummers of all levels grow and thrive. My personalised lessons blend foundational techniques with modern approaches, supporting students from their first pair of sticks to their first gig.
In the same year, I proudly partnered with Australian brand
Rech Cymbals, contributing to the development of the
Inferno Synergy,
Raw, and
Sand series.
2020–PRESENT
I collaborated with award-winning vocalist Abi Muir as drummer and songwriter. We released a 5-track EP, which received the following international recognition:
- “Stockholm” – Grand Prize Winner, 2021 John Lennon International Songwriting Competition, Rock category.
- “Forgot About Me” – Top 10 Semi-finalist, 2022 Road to Nashville International Songwriting Competition.
- 2022 Passport to Airlie Competition winner – Main stage performance at Airlie Beach Festival of Music.
- “Still The Same” – Finalist, 2022 Queensland Music Awards.
I’ve stayed on as Abi’s live drummer, supporting her music at live shows and events.
2023–PRESENT
I founded Darkshore with vocalist and guitarist Owen Jacob (formerly of Kingsman, UK).
Darkshore blends heavy, alternative, and progressive influences, embracing creative boundaries with intricate rhythms and evocative songwriting. Beyond drums, I contribute to songwriting and recording for bass and rhythm guitar to help craft our distinctive sound.
Our singles
“Hopeless” and
“The Cost” are available on major platforms.
In addition to drumming, I’ve been a strength, conditioning, and mobility coach for over 15 years.
I own and run Shoshin Movement Studio in Cairns, Australia, founded in 2014, where we develop physical skills through calisthenics, strength, flexibility, and playful movement.
As a movement specialist, I help drummers enhance technique, efficiency, and ergonomics, ensuring effortless, injury-free playing and long-term success behind the kit.
